Lovey and I had been meaning to take a nighttime walk near our neighborhood... since Thanksgiving... Holding hands in the glow of some twinklies?!! Pure magic! However I was kind of bummed because everyone in our city decided to take the same walk that night. Or so it seemed... Couldn't even sneak in a good kiss cause there were kiddos every where! Haha! Oh well. Maybe we should go on a weeknight next time... Nothing like a good winter kiss to keep your insides warm!

12 Highlights of 2012 on 12/12/12 @12:12PM
12.12.2012Last year on 11/11/11 at 11:11AM, I was in the 11th aisle at my local grocery store...I'm lame. I know. But what can I say? I wanted to do something weird to remember it. Same thing with today...I want to make 12/12/12 special in some way and I finally figured out how! But let me explain a few things first... Right now Lovey and I are going through a rough patch... Mostly we need to make some important, tough, life-changing decisions about school, living arrangements, finances...etc. UGH! We are clueless and feel pretty lost and overwhelmed at times (prayer is much appreciated!). Which is why I need to post some HIGHLIGHTS! Oftentimes, during rough patches, we need a reminder of good days..however menial...Just a little positivity and a reminder of the MANY blessings the Lord bestows upon us (great or small)... It helps put things in perspective because I know we've been here before (LOSTVILLE) and I know God will guide us through! So without further ado.....
Here are 12 Highlights from 2012.
1. The time I got bangs. Yeah. They looked good!
2. When I bought a Kodak Easy Point & Shoot and took some pretty decent shots. $50? Amazing!
3. The beehive I sported at the Blogscars! (Remember that?!)
4. Leap Year Love Letter I wrote to Lovey in 2008...Opened in February 2012.
5. The time Lovey and I had a day off.
6. The time Lovey and I went on a Beach Date.
7. When I asked my boss if I could have the day off to go shopping with my sissy and he said YES!
8. The time I got a TRIPOD & REMOTE!
9. Lovey and I's trip to San Diego for our Anniversary!
10. The time we stayed at a Beach-Side Cottage! Woo! That was amazing!
11. Lovey and I's ULTIMATE FALL DAY!
12. And the things that were not blogged about but I don't want to forget:
a. Booked a personal record number of photoshoots this year. Sooo thankful!
b. Lovey bought me a new laptop and new car. What. A. Guy!
c. Two people that are VERY close to us came to know the Lord after much prayer and sharing. I still can't get over it. The LAST people I thought would ever proclaim the name of Yeshua... God is good! (And THIS is the ultimate highlight of 2012!)
Ok. I feel better now. God can do miracles! And we need a few right now... Happy 12/12/12 guys! Next time we see a date like this will be 2/2/2022 (I think?) Until next time (Lordwilling!)
Love to you all,
My Weekend (the Uncreepy Version)
12.11.2012
I would like to clarify that I did not just take creepy, Blair-Witch, tree pictures this past weekend! In fact, I did the opposite of creepy. I did un-creepy to max! I actually spent the weekend with my sister because Lovey was out of town. And what did we do? Nothing. Absolutely nothing. We lounged. We ate. We watched Hoarders. We watched Frequency. We ate some more. It was glorious!
Here's some snippets from when I took a 3 minute walk around her neighborhood....
Cutest German Shepherd puppy ever right????!!
PS. These were taken with my Kodak. Remember I used to have a photography series about just using a point and shoot camera to capture my life??

Janette the Almost-Winter Lover
12.07.2012
Sometimes I forget it's not winter yet... It's been chilly and delicious and I'm savoring E.V.E.R.Y minute! I've also winterized my home (Well...almost finished winterizing) and it definitely adds to the coziness factor. So my almost-winter evenings have consisted of warm drinks (Chai Latte pictured below) and babysitting my beloved nieces. Could life be any sweeter? I'm sooo thankful. God is good.
More winterization pics to come! (You know I went crazy with the snowflakes again!) Here's last year's decor for you prettypies that didn't know me then...
PS. Chester is the first stuffed animal Lovey bought me while we were dating. Aww!
Janette the Desert Wanderer
11.27.2012Remember my Summer Must Do List? I mentioned I wanted to go to the desert...But it never happened. However since Fall started, I've been to the desert twice (once a few weeks ago and another this past weekend). Lovey and I went with his dad, brother, and our nieces to Palm Springs and Joshua Tree for a relaxing overnight trip under the sun... It had the makings of a nice time.. But honestly.. it wasn't that great... No wait. It was great... Actually, it was 50-50.... Here's some highlights and lowlights so you can see what I mean...
Lowlight: Our destination is only 1.5 hours away from our home. We left at 9AM and arrived at 3PM. Do the math.
Highlight: Getting to sit next to Lovey for hours on end.
Lowlight: My father-in-law made plans to run errands (unbeknownst to us) since "we were in the area" including a visit to Uncle Vinny's. (Take that as you will...)
Highlight: He graciously and generously blessed us throughout the trip to make up for it. He paid for everything! What. A. GUY!
Lowlight: The place we were intending to go (Palm Springs Aerial Tramway) was PACKED!! So we left and went to Joshua Tree National Park (ie more driving).
Highlight: Joshua Tree National Park.
Lowlight: Lovey and his dad arguing politics for miles. (Do the words "family vacay" mean nothing?) Haha!
Highlight: Getting to listen to some cool tracks during this time. Praise God for headphones!
Lowlight: Sitting in the middle seat next to my three year old niece who kept whining and complaining that my elbow was touching her carseat armrest.
Highlight: Playing road trip games with my nieces.
Lowlight: Hiked a mile to see a lake... Except it was dried up.... Stinkin' desert.
Highlight: Saw this instead...WOW! (And the picture doesn't even do it justice)
Lowlight: Went to a place where we were standing about 20 feet from the San Andreas Fault.
Highlight: Went to a place where we were standing about 20 feet from the San Andreas Fault.
Lowlight: Freezing and underdressed while we were on the top of this one mountain.
Highlight: The view and Lovey holding me close to keep me warm. (Pictured below: Salton Sea-Mexican Border-San Andreas Fault-Palm Springs!!!)
See? 50-50! But you know what? I'm just going to focus on the good stuff...Cause aside from Uncle Vinny's, everything else was tolerable or amazing! I'm blessed!
Janette and the Amazing Week
11.19.2012
Ok.. So last week was amaze-ING! And this past weekend too... Like wow! I don't even know where to begin!
- I had a shoot at Disneyland! So much fun! But ohhhh soooo tiring! And my feetsies are still sore. Ow! But I'm proud of Lovey and I. We got there at 8:30PM and stayed until 10PM!!!! Not bad, eh? It was magical! I'm even more impressed that we only bought 2 turkey legs, 2 sodas, and 2 waters. The whole day. Where did our appetite go??!!!
When the Brave soundtrack came on....."What?!! No way! I'm downloading that song RIGHT now! I'm playing this track at my wedding.. and my funeral.."
When the whole lake was lit up with fire....."Wow! I felt that fire in my face and I'm not even in a kitchen.."
At the last song...."Now what's this little number??"
What the? Who was that guy????

iPad
-Yes. I got one! It was a gift and a TOTAL surprise! I thought it was some promotional item... but no. It was a stinking iPad! WHAT?!!! Last thing on my mind! For real!- I had a shoot at Disneyland! World of Color
-This show.... Hmm ... I was skeptical! But DUDE! Guys! My retinas were rocked and rolled and re-rocked 20 fold! That show is a must see! And the best part was that we were standing next to a comedian... He had me and Lovey roaring!! These are three things I remember him saying...

Janette and the Balki Vest
10.25.2012
Does anyone remember the show Perfect Strangers? I kind of do. My older sister used to watch it religiously, and I used to sit there playing with my Barbies and watch it too. I don't remember much about it, other than Balki's wild vests and an occasional sheep in his apartment. Anywho. I found this vest at the thrift store a while back and it just screamed Balki Bartokomous! Makes me happy when I wear it.
PS. Did you know that Carl & Harriet Winslow (from Family Matters) first appeared on Perfect Strangers??? Family Matters was a spinoff show! Craziness huh?
PPS. Could I have any more hair???? Gosh. It's almost getting out of control... Haha!

Janette the Lazy Tripod Owner
8.23.2012
Remember when I got a tripod? Yeah, well, I haven't really used it since then cause I get sooo lazy simply thinking about the thought of getting it out... Story of my life... However, yesterday, I really really thought about it because I wanted to capture my outfit (polka dots and animal print is my fave combo of the moment)... but instead I opted for the "I'll-hold-the-camera-myself-and-pretend-I'm-not-holding-it" route. Yeah, well. I'm a lazy bean.
Like my, "I'm gonna pretend that I'm not struggling to hold up this 5lb camera and look away all artsy" pose? Actually.. No.. I wasn't trying to be emo or modelesque..(Okay, maybe just a little bit) . I was simply trying to get a good shot of my braids too. I like how they came out... Aren't braidy hairdos the best???!

In other news I thought today was Wednesday. I still can't believe it's Thursday. Something is not right here...
Janette the Fashion Daydreamer
8.22.2012
I've always been delayed when it comes to fashion and trends. Recently, I was wearing a black vest and my teenage niece said, "Aunty Janette... Um... Those aren't 'in' right now...It's summer.." Was she right? I have no clue. Fashion trends are crazy nowadays. They change so often, I can't keep up...So I do my own thing. If I like it, I'm wearing it. "In" or "Out"?? Doesn't matter. That's my new rule. Anyway.. I wanted to share some inspiring outfits I've seen lately. I'm not sure if they're from 5 years ago or 5 hours ago. But I really like them. And maybe you will too!

I'm loving the menswear slash girly look. It looks so refined...so classy...so prim and proper...
(Here's my most recent take on it.)
I'm crazy about color! I'm convinced it instantly adds a spring to your step. If you're ever down in the dumps, just pop on a fuchsia dress...or put on a swipe of red lippy and you'll be better in no time...(Here's my most recent take on it.)
And finally this last image.. WOW GUYS! Everything about this rocks my retinas... If I had this outfit I'd wear it grocery shopping! Okay. Okay. I wouldn't. But I've always loved the girly rocker look. Ever since high school and Gwen Stefani, it stayed with me.
(I sort of tried the girly rocker look here. Except I think I needed more girly, less rocker.)
So what about you? What do you like?
Janette the Birthday Girl
7.30.2012
Remember how I staged a fake birthday to throw potential identity thieves off my online tracks? (The things I do. *shakes head*) Anyway. I'm finally going to post what I did for my real big day cause it was magical and AMAZING. Aaand my glorious birthday cake deserves a billboard...Or an award...Or a Pinterest pin, at least! Are you ready for this?
Ta da!! Is it INCREDIBLE or what? My best gal pal, Val made it for me... Hello Kitty Darth Vader??? BEST OF BOTH WORLDS! WOW! I can't even describe how amazing it was. I really can't. (Great job Val!) Am I loved or what? I really am. My friends and family made my day super special. For starters, my coworkers took me to my favorite restaurant, The Cheesecake Factory. Have you tried the Navajo Chicken Sandwich? It's heavenly!

And in the evening we hosted a birthday BBQ (Cheeseburgers!!! My fave!) for our closest friends and family. It's really a treat for me to see my parents interacting well with my friends. I love it!
And finally, the night ended with cake and presents. Yay! It was perfect...And guys...This man spoiled me rotten. NO JOKE! Lovey went all out with the gift giving. It was craaaazy...
He even purchased different kinds of wrapping paper he thought I would like and made sure that every gift had a curling ribbon (some of which he made by hand). And it made me cry. Seriously. I'm still crying about it now! I saved one of the ribbons, naturally. Why? Well, Lovey is such a busy guy. He's either working, eating, studying, or sleeping. No joke. That's all he has time for lately...But knowing that he took the time to make me a curly-q ribbon so my presents would look pretty for me means the world!!
I'll save this ribbon till I die.
PS. You may have noticed I changed my blog design a bit. And you may have also noticed my sponsor/friend section is gone, too. I'm sending an email about it to the friends I had featured on there. Thanks for your patience!

Janette the Lover of San Diego (Part 2)
7.25.2012
Okay...Yesterday I took a break from my San Diego extravaganza because I was guest posting over at Natalie's blog, Natalie Blair (check it out if you missed it). But where did I leave off?!!! Hmmm... Oh yeah! So... The majority of our morning was spent exploring Cabrillo Monument and Solana Beach, but after getting our fill of sand, sun, and surf we headed to Downtown San Diego for some lunch, stunning architecture, and colorful characters at Comicon..
And no Lovebear Family vacation is complete without an argument. Seriously. Lovey and I argue every time while on holiday. Nothing major...Just some lame disagreement. The couple losing their temper on the sidewalk of a busy, touristy street??!? That's us. We're such fat kids too cause all our disagreements are regarding food. lol Seriously. It's sad, but funny. But what can I say? We're in love!
After downtown San Diego, we went to my second most favorite place ever, Balboa Park! Wow guys! That place is great! It's full of wonderful nooks and crannies... Just get off the main street and you'll find amazing little treats tucked away between the main attractions.

After walking the length of the park, we went to Old Town San Diego to shop, explore, and have dinner at our favorite restaurant, La Pinata (best steak ever!)

A sweet sunset stroll to end our day would've been amazing had we not already been walking around for 8+ hours...We were tired, full, happy, and just wanted to go back to our hotel and take a nice, long shower and sleep. Which is exactly what we did!
The next morning we slept in for a bit and went to T's Cafe in Solana Beach for brekky where I ate this:

And finally, our drive home.......It was full of sunshine, sea-views, and happy memories to carry us home...Happy Anniversary to me & Lovey!
