5 Tips For A Better Blog

Ok, so I realize I probably have nooo business writing a post like this.. I should perhaps leave it to the big leagues (ie 300+ follower blogs) to sort out this kind of stuff... However, in my defense, even a humble bloggerette like myself can tell the difference between a good blog and a difficult one. And believe me, difficult is not good! So here are some tips I've conjured up for a better, easy breezy, blog.

Now it's your turn! Give me one tip you've discovered that is most helpful in this area...Thanks!

  1. I agree...those are great tips!

adding one more point - have positiveness in whatever you write; if you are going to complain about every little thing that's bothering you it's going to take you no where!!

  2. I always leave my signature at the bottom. I like that it makes my blog a click away from curious comment readers :)
oh and the comments like "great post! Check out my blog, too :)"
make me wanna throw up. and I never check their blog too.
cause it's like DUDE add some meaning.

  4. This was awesome! You did a great job! I also prefer reading these helpful hints from non-big leaguers. I guess because I'm not a big league blog!
Captchas are the worst! I try to go ahead and comment andyway but they can still be pretty annoying.
How do you do your signature link? Do you have to paste that in each time, because I don't usually have the time for that...or is it a one time set up?
I'm with you on showing your face. I'm rarely attracted to a blog that I can't identify with the author.
Copy and paste comments mean that you don't care. It's that simple.
All of these were great! I would also add having a clean blog design. If you have too much going on, it's going to give me a headache.

Just my two cents...for what it's worth.

    Great post Janette!

  5. oh one other thing I noticed is that i almost always click the about me page on someones blog before I leave it! It really helps to have a little something like that on your blog!

  6. Well put! I hate copy pasted comments! haha. & captchas drive me nuts. OH and I HATE when they have music that autoplays when you get to their page.

  7. Great tips! I am going to remove my captcha...it only got on there because of ignorance on how to remove it! I think I'm gonna mess around and try to figure it out. Hee hee! Hearts, Janna Lynn

  10. I agree, great tips. The captcha code makes me wanna almost give up on commenting sometimes.

  11. I totally agree! I need to get better about showing my face, though. I'm always the one taking the pictures and I totally forget to get a few shots with me actually in them!

The catcha code is the most annoying thing ever. I disabled mine on my blog and I get occasional spam. It's not a big deal though. Blogger is pretty good about putting those comments in a spam folder and not actually publishing them. Great tips!!

  12. Great tips!! When I first started blogging, I didn't want to put my email out on the web for all to see so I was a 'noreply-comment' person. And I didn't realise what I was missing out on. Only recently a new blogger friend asked me to change it because she was like "I'd love to write to you about your comments" which made me all warm and fuzzy. It's so true, I love getting replies on my comments! I definitely agree with that last tip.

  13. I think you have every business writing a blog post like this, because there are all great points and tips for better blogging. I actually find the link somewhat annoying... but maybe only because quite often people comment a 'cut and paste' comment with expectations of others clicking through to their blog. For me, I actually prefer a meaningful comment... and then I'm very likely to click on your photo, view your profile, and link to your blog anyways. That's just my two cents. Everything you mentioned is really helpful.

  14. Hehe you are darling!! Sweetie, you are spot on with all of these tips, and you have every right to post this post! These are 5 tips that every blogger (new or old) needs to utilize. The word verification is my biggest pet peeve. It's so annoying lol.

  15. Good tips! I have a hard time with those captcha things too that's why I removed them from my settings. But I can't do away with moderation for now though coz of all the spam I get. :P

  16. garrrrrrrrrrrrr, honestly those word verification thingy's cause me to squint my eyes so hard sometimes but it's weird when you've just made a comment and then see the WV has almost read your mind. it actually has a word relateable to what you're talking about, strange stuff psychic captcha!

and the showing your face is tops in my book too lades. an about page is one of my favorite parts on someones blog, really gives you an inside scoop as to what it's all about. you nailed this, well done! for me, i kinda make a mad dash comment when there is music in the background, especially if i forgot to turn down my speakers from party dance times of the past eve with KASA ; ) omg, it's like alarmingly loud and startles me into heart palp central. the odd, and i mean VERY odd time it's a soothing thing but generally i could do without it. 2 cent throw in accomplished. xoox ♥

  17. those are great suggestions. I have the code for comments because I was getting spam comments and got tired of deleting them.

I haven't done the linked signature yet, but I want to!

  18. Hi Janette! I'm so upset right now. I accidentally deleted your comment on my blog while accessing it thru my phone. I totally loved that comment too.

You always come up with the best suggestions. I agree with the copying & pasting comments - that's just wrong. And only proves youre in this for the wrong reasons. How horrible is that. The only thing I'm guilty about in this post is the CAPTCHA. I had spam before & I figured it would eliminate it. It was brought to me attention before that it does discourage readers from leaving comments. I shall mull this over this weekend.

You are one of my favorite blogs to read. Have a great weekend! Hope things are peachy with you, as well. :D

  19. I agree with all your your tips. Another thing I can think of is making your blog more individual - meaning the layout, design etc.
I don't feel attracted to blogs that just use the standard blogger template design, I much more prefer looking at pretty, special and creative blogs. And it's fun, too :)

I generally reply by email, unless you are a No-Comment-Reply Blogger.
Thank you for making my day!
